Be good to the environment and save some $$

I know that most consumers are not considering new PCs during these economic times. But, I have heard from many solo practicioners and consultants that new PC purchases are especially attractive before tax completion time (and with new incentives governments are offering in terms of depreciation).

If you are thinking of buying a new PC check out some of the trade-in offers that you can access with some of the larger OEMs (original equipment manufacturers). Two big OEMs in North America that most people consider are Dell and HP, and they both have programs available:

http://www.hp.com/united-states/tradein/howitworks.html

http://www.dell.com/tradein

The benefits of this are that this is more economically friendly versus just tossing your old hardware and you actually can get some cash back. So, check them out if you are interested. Personally, I mount my old hardware on a wall in my office at home - bit of installation art that looks pretty cool. But, maybe a few bucks would get me to rethink that.

Cheers,
