That wasn't working for me, which is why I came here to ask the question in the first place. Laura's suggestions were spot on and the page numbers ended up exactly where my client wanted them to be, and it was very low fuss.

Yes, I know that. However, the author requires the page number to be IN the header.

Sounds so simple, and I thank you for the reply! However, there is no "set value" option for me. I'm putting this in the header, that seems to be a big problem. The steps I take to get the page numbers in the header (already existing with author name and book title): Format, Page, and the ONLY options available are "Page Setup"

I'm laying out a book using WP, and everything is turning out beautifully. The ONE sticking point is the fact I cannot figure out how to get page numbers into the header starting about 7 pages in, but starting AT # 1. It defaults to 7 no matter what I try. I cannot start the page numbering on page 1 because that's the title page. The BOOK itself
