About 2 years ago Word Perfect Office12 came with my Dell pc. I purchased the upgrade with the 2 year download insurance to install the full version. I had to reformat my hard drive a few weeks ago and I re-installed the WP Office 12 software that came with my pc. But, since I am now '1 month" over my 2 year download insurance, I seem to have no way of re-installing the upgrade I purchased. Corel was no help what-so-ever. So now when I try to purchase ANOTHER upgrade, I get error message that say "Error: Unable to determine product based on supplied parameters." So now I can't even buy an upgrade for the version that I have?
All things being equal I don't feel I should have to purchase another upgrade (these things are expensive) but when I do try to upgrade, I get that odd error message from Corel.
Anybody ever have a problem like this? Do I have to spend the $239 to buy the full version, even though I already have Office 12 with trial version of Quatro and Presentations on my pc?
Upgrades require that you have the previous version installed. e.g. Installed wp11 and then the upgrade to wp12. I just went through all of this myself. MSOffice follows the same process.
Too late now but my advice is to always purchase the cdrom. Software from OEM versions are typically more limited. Some OEM versions can not even be patched. I seldom rely on OEM software.
Always register your version so that if you have to reinstall and lost the key, Corel can tell you what it was. It is best though to save this type of information on paper. Some save it to a flash drive in a password protected file. Some save the key in an email saved on another site like yahoo or gmail.
Hi jrgmmg
When you click the link from the older version you should be forwarded to the new Dell pages...We can check into this and let you know.

Hey jrgmmg, did you manage to install Word Perfect Office on your PC? This sounds more like a licensing issue on Dell's end rather than yours so contacting them would be the best solution.

If you don't HAVE to have Office 12, as a last resort (before purchasing the $239 upgrade) you can always buy an OEM version (which is a non-upgradable version) of X3 for $13.95 or X4 for $29.99 online.
And if it is still not working for you - please respond to the site admin via eMail (whcih is me anyway but your eMail address will not be shown to the world) and I can set you up.
Cheers
If you are seeing WPO on the web as OEM (especially for <$50) and it is not attached to some hardware it is an illegal copy. Just so folks know.
Cheers,
